Horse racing can be classified into to distinctive types, flat racing, or jump racing. Flat racing is widely popular in Europe and the United States. Flat racing can usually done in grass or dirt surfaces. Polytrack, which is an artificial surface, is also commonly used in most races.

Jump racing is much more different from flat horse racing. This type of race consists of hurdles or obstacles that the horses have to jump over. Jump races can run from 2 or more than 4 miles long. This type of horse racing, also known as hunt racing, is more popular in Europe than in the United States.

There are certain types of horses used for racing, one of which is the thoroughbreds. This breed of horse is mainly bred for horse racing. Thoroughbreds are hot-blooded and are known for their agility and speed. Winning the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing is probably the most important accomplishment in horse racing. I assume that you're speaking of Maryland. Does Bowie even exist anymore?
Any politician who would let horse-racing die in their jurisdiction is obviously unaware of the immense and broad-based financial impact the sport has. Perhaps your state breeder's association should devote more attention and/or funds to lobbying.
    Good luck!

Make it that the owner of the last horse to cross is the winner, then make everyone ride someone else's horse, so that they will ride fast, as they want the horse they own, not the one they ride, to be last.

It's such a relief to find a question that is not putting down horse racing for once. I find that people who are constantly putting down horse racing tend to be uneducated on the subject and should really learn a few things before they open their mouths and answer. Racehorses live better than most people do! They are horse royalty and at least most of them, love their jobs. And like you said, if they don't like racing, nine times out of ten they're taken off of the track. And as for racing two-year-olds, most people I know don't overace the young ones. Yes, a two-year-old is obviously still young, but horses are made to run. Running in a race, especially with proper training, is not going to kill them. Thoroughbreds are known for their love of running. My mare is a Quarter Horse with strong Thoroughbred influence and she loves nothing more than to run at top speeds.

I am obviously not a PETA member, and I never will be. I once read a story on who PETA was trying to put a man away for leaving his huskys outside during winter. The dogs were chained within sight of each other, but not so they'd be able to reach each other (to reduce fights) and each dog had a dog house. Huskys are breed to survive in the harshest climates. They are extremely uncomfortable being inside a warm house. It doesn't surprise me that they're jumping all over horse racing too. Thanks again for posting a question that is not putting down horse racing.

lol this is a classic. Switch horses, this way if prince A rides with prince's B horse and he crosses the finish line first, than prince B's horse got there first and prince B loses.

In England, all horses belonged to the crown, thus were considered property of the king. The trainers and jockeys cared for the horses and were able to recoup much of the winnings, but to this day, some still goes to the British crown.
