Horse racing can be fun, thrilling and exciting as well as profitable if you know a few insider strategies that can help you to win.

First, always make sure that you analyze the history of the horses’ previous performances when placing bets. Many experts have found that it can be more profitable to look for those horses that have the highest speed ratings. Generally, the higher the horse’s speed rating the more consistent the horse will be in winning. This is particularly true when it comes to sprint races, so make sure you pay attention to this.

Always make sure that you take into consideration the consistency of the horses’ prior races as well. Avoid betting on any horses that have not raced within the last month or so. Look for horses that have placed with the top three finishes during their last few races. This is usually a good indication that the horse will be in good shape and will have an increased chance of winning an upcoming race.

Class is also important when it comes to picking winners as well. Look specifically to see whether the horse is coming up in class. While this can sometimes lead to choosing a winner, that is not always the case. The main thing to look for is to determine whether the horse has raced within the same class recently. If the horse has raced within the same class and come out on top, this could be a horse that is ready to keep on the same winning streak.

When possible, try to make sure you know the condition of the track on race day. In the event that the track will be muddy or sloppy in some other way, look for horses that prefer taking a front lead. When the track is muddy, horses that like to take the early lead will generally have better chances of winning.

Finally, remember that just because a horse lost their last race that does not mean that you should not consider them, especially if they were a favorite. The horse could still be in good shape and actually have a good chance of winning an upcoming race. Be sure to check the odds, especially on the morning of the race, to determine whether this may be a horse that you want to place your money on.

There’s just something about the majestic horse that’s enthralled human beings for thousands years. Whether it’s the gentle giants’ grace and beauty or their ability to help humans get big jobs done – or both – humans and horses have gone hand-in-hand throughout history. In addition their more utilitarian functions, horses have also been greatly appreciated for their ability to race. In fact, horse racing has been and remains a big attraction.<br />

The roots of horse racing date back to about 4,500 BC when nomads from Central Asia first learned to domesticate the gentle beasts. Known for their grace, agility and speed, horses were naturals for use in competition. In the past, horse racing was a sport of kings and nobility. Knights and their noble steeds would race, training for battle and long-distance runs.

Nowadays, horse racing is a big business that centers on a lucrative industry that rakes in millions and millions of dollars through the placement of bets. Modern horse racing is one of the few forms of legalized gambling and it’s one that’s enjoyed by people around the globe.

Horse racing is such a big sport, in fact, that figures from the late 1980s show that more than 56 million people attended racing events and bet more than $9 billion on their favorites. The numbers have only climbed from there!

Thoroughbred horse racing is by far the most popular of the types of horse racing that involves wagering. But what are thoroughbreds and why are they so fun to watch and bet on?

Thoroughbreds basically are a special breed of horse that traces its ancestry back to specific horses. Thoroughbreds are primarily horses that have Arabian descent that have been bred specifically for ability to carry weight while maintaining speed over extended distances. Sleek, beautiful and fast, thoroughbreds are born to run and run well. To be considered competitive stock, thoroughbreds must maintain a strict pedigree, as well.

The tradition of horse racing in America and elsewhere runs deep, especially with the thoroughbreds. American thoroughbred horse racing has long been a popular sport with winning horses becoming household names. With four-legged heroes such as Citation, Secretariat and Seattle Slew to champion the way, the American sport of thoroughbred racing is well established and followed.

In America the big thoroughbred races center around three particular events – the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. Horses that can win all three races in a single year are deemed “Triple Crown” winners and are celebrated in much the same manner as a Super Bowl-winning quarterback would be. Very few horses can pull off wins in all three arenas.

So, what is the draw of horse racing?

That answer depends on the spectator in question. But, for many, it’s the thrill of the race itself, rooting for a favorite horse and the chance to rake in big on bets. Some, however, simply enjoy watching the incredible spectacle of the beautiful and large animals race around the track with a level of grace a ballerina could only hope for. Whatever the draw, horse racing is a sport that runs deep in tradition and is loved by millions.

One funny incident where I saw this guy bet on every horse. He said that way he is guaranteed to win ( ya no shit). But I always heard its also tradition to bet 2 dollars every time you go as well, this is probably the reason for being able to get a ton of 2 dollar bills at horse racing tracks.

Well I am just wondering.

Later.

With online betting related to horse racing increasing in popularity among Netizens and gamblers alike, is it not time that you got on the bandwagon? Not only are you going to enjoy the high adrenaline of betting on racehorses (even if you are nowhere near a race track), but you are also earning passive income!

However, before you plunge into online betting, try installing a horse racing system first. This will help you improve your betting system, which can increase your profits. Though the principles in racetrack betting and online betting remain basically the same, the chances of winning in the latter are greatly enhanced by the application.

Features of A Horse Racing System

Due to complete automation, the application automatically places your online bets without your intervention. You just need to input your personal criteria.

This feature allows for full customization of your system. You might have bought a pre-configured application but you can always set it according to your gambling needs. Thus, you have the double advantage of a high-tech application modified to suit your personal requirements, at no extra cost!

A horse racing system also provides updates on your bank status in real time. You do not have to grab a newspaper and read down long lines of results, compute your wins and losses, and calculate your profit. It will do all these for you.

The application will also automatically place your next bet, which will allow your bank to increase exponentially. Basically, your money continues to grow and grow again without you working so hard. Just check in once in a while and you are done.

If you are lucky enough to purchase a reliable horse racing system, you are assured that your precious money is actually placed on your desired bets. It certainly beats trusting the scalawags that litter racetracks. Look for an application that is officially approved by the online betting site.

Other features include technical support, more automated income streams brought by membership, and ease of installation.

Costs Applicable

Expectedly, a horse racing system can get quite expensive. You cannot expect to win big money yet invest so little. This only happens in lotteries, a game of pure chance. Horse racing is not just a game of chance – it is a science and an art. And as it is the sport of kings, you cannot expect kings to pay less than a king’s ransom.

However, if you search the Internet long enough, you can come across tempting offers of applications at a reasonable price. There are even free trial periods that allow you to explore the application before actually making the purchase, with no commitments whatsoever.

Financial Benefits

When applied properly, a horse racing system can yield 25% to 55% monthly increase in your bank. And that is the floor! You can even earn more than 100% since your earnings increase exponentially.

These amazing profits can even be had even if your starting capital was relatively smaller. Just think that with a minimum of 2% daily average profit, you can achieve faster return on investment for the application and your capital in just two months!

When engaging in online betting, just remember though that any computerized application is just a tool. You will still need to input your preferred betting system and personal choices to truly make the application your servant, and not the other way around.

You may recall that in the first article in this series, I discussed how important value is when betting on horse racing.

Getting a price that is technically above what it ought to be is a big key to earning consistent profits from betting on horses, and is central to my own betting strategy. I teach a lot of my members this from day one.

It is down to you to effectively change your betting habits, and very often you wouldn’t even know that you had these bad betting habits, until they were pointed out to you, so don’t go blaming yourself here.

So once you’ve learned to look at value bets, and eliminate the habit of just betting on horses that are favourites to win their respective races, you can move onto the next good habit that you should have in your betting armoury.

Create a suitable betting bank that is appropriate to your financial circumstances.

How A Betting Bank Can Help You Achieve More Profits

This sounds such a simple concept doesn’t it? Do not let its simplicity fool you in to thinking that its not important, because it is absolutely vital to your success.

Not having a betting bank can often mean you do not know how much you’ve bet this month, and just as important; how much you won versus how much you’ve lost.

The reasons for having a betting bank are so key for success when betting on horses. First of all, you are able to monitor how much you’ve bet, and how much you’ve won (or lost) each month.

This is critical, particularly if you use a horse racing tipster service and you want to know how successful and reliable it is.

Secondly, it enables you to stake correctly on each horse that you bet on. For example, I advise my members that they use what’s called a ‘points system’ for their betting.

Simply put, all this involves is dividing your betting bank, let’s use a figure of £100 for example, into 100 points. This means that you have complete control of what you’re betting.

How A Points System Correctly Structures Your Betting

You may decide, as I do with my service, that horses who you feel have an excellent chance of winning are worthy of a five point bet (the maximum bet I place on horses), which in this example would therefore be five per cent of your betting bank, so £5.

Conversely, you decide that horses that have just a good chance of winning, may only need a one point bet, as the information you have about the horse, coupled with the horses form, is not as conclusive as it would be for a five point bet.

So in this instance you would only bet one per cent of your betting bank, and therefore only wager £1 on your horse.

This type of betting ensures that you can weather and recover fro the bad runs – as these are inevitable unfortunately, but you can also take advantage of the good runs too.

Furthermore, you are in complete control and know exactly where you are from day to day, which is so important.

What You Should Not Be Doing When Betting On Horses

One of the big mistakes you as a punter can make, is to stake too high in proportion to your betting bank, and this generally comes out of wanting to make money more quickly.

You have to think of the long term picture, more than the short term. If you have a betting bank of £100, as in our example above, you cannot realistically expect to make £100 per month in profit, this is just not feasible.

The temptation for get-rich quick is so rife these days, due to the many claims out there that it is possible to become a millionaire overnight.

Let me tell you, it really is not. Lets look at how slowly, slowly really can catchy monkey…

How Small Gains Can Produce Great Results

Lets use our £100 betting bank again to illustrate just how powerful staking with an effective points system is.

If by betting on horses each day, you only increased your betting bank by a mere one-half of one per cent (0.5%) every day, you would have a balance of almost £250 (£244 to be precise) after just six months, such is the effect of compounding and using a long term strategy.

So in six months, you could potentially more than double your investment with very minimal points gains. Not bad for starters and of course, this can be multiplied depending on how much your betting bank is.

So in summary, you can now see that by finding value bets, and betting correctly that your betting bank will grow. And of course as your betting bank grows, so you are able to increase the size of your stakes and therefore make more profit.

In Part Three of this series of articles, I will discuss more bad habits that punters do while betting on horses, that cause them to lose money hand over fist.

Tipsters always focus on the horse’s stats in prior races to make horse racing tips. Rarely do they consider the skills of the trainer and the jockey in their predictions. Here are some reasons why you should not make the same mistake.

Get To Know The Top Trainers

You can either read daily racing forms or go to the race tracks to know who are the best horse trainers. Because of their numerous victories, their high earnings and excellent track records will easily compel you to bet on the horses that they have trained. The best trainers make sure that their horses are ready for any particular race. They understand that the horse should make money as well as place high in the race. Because of inexperienced horses, expert trainers may lose some races. Do not be discouraged when this happens. Some horses may need to run a few races before they can actually reach their potentials.

Steer Clear Of Trainers Who Love Their Horses Too Much

A trainer can fall head over heels with his horse! You may not believe it, but it happens sometimes. Horse training is never easy for both the trainer and his horse. Sometimes trainers may have to test their horse’s limits to prepare them well for a race. Some may be too kind and tolerant with their horses. They might feel that their expectations are too high, so they shift to other strategies to make things easy for the horse. When a trainer is too emotionally attached to their horses, he rarely wins. Consider that the next time you study horse racing tips.

Get Acquainted With The Jockeys

If you have the chance to go to the tracks to meet the jockeys, do so. Jockeys, especially veteran ones, know the race tracks well. Experience has taught them how to steer their horses according to a track’s nooks and crannies. When you study your horse racing tips, find the jockey which has the most number of races for that particular track. Chances are, he can navigate his horse better than the rest. Jockeys, like horses, prefer some tracks than most. It would be wise to include this in your handicaps.

The Horse Will Always Be The Bottomline

The trainer is responsible for entering the horse into a particular race and class. The jockey is there to guide the horse to victory. Still, the two can only do what they can. When the starting gun fires, everything is up to the horse. No effective training regimen can make up for an unfit horse. As you study horse racing tips or when you make bets online, always prioritize the horse’s skill, but never undermine the impact of a good trainer and a shrewd jockey.

Because tipsters have to consider factors such as weather conditions, race track characteristics, and horses’ performance, they tend to exclude the trainer’s skill and the jockey’s aptitude in their horse racing tips. It is a still win-win situation if you do the contrary.

Author: Max Redd: www.ReddRacing.co.uk

There are currently four all-weather tracks in the UK, with a further course in development in Essex. This year there will be £5million in prize money on offer for the all-weather season, so racing promises to be the most competitive and exciting yet. Max Redd takes you around the venues, and reveals his key tips and advice for making a killing when betting on horse racing on the sand.

All-weather racing often receives the same response from horse racing fans as Marmite gets from lovers of toast – you either love it, or you hate it!

Admittedly, the opportunity to watch low-grade horses running on the sand at a February meeting at Southwell may not have the same allure as the Gold Cup on Ladies Day at Ascot in the height of summer. But that is no reason for all-weather snobbery. In fact, the UK all-weather racing scene is going from strength to strength. And this is good news, hopefully, for punters who endeavour to grind out a profit betting on races run “on the beach”.

The four venues in the UK that currently stage all-weather flat racing are Lingfield Park in Surrey, Wolverhampton in the Midlands, Kempton Park near Heathrow, and Southwell in Nottinghamshire. However, this year that list will be boosted to five because a new track is opening at Great Leighs in Essex.

Forget the forecast

The all-weather horse racing championship kicks into gear just as the traditional flat racing turf season comes to a close in the autumn. The 2006-2007 all-weather season gets under way in November and culminates in a grand finale at Lingfield Park in March with the running of the Winter Derby. With around £5 million in prize money, jockeys’ and trainers’ championships up for grabs, and opportunities for horses of varying levels of ability, this season should be the most competitive ever staged in the UK.

So which jockeys, horses and trainers should we be following on the all-weather, and how can racing at one artificial track differ compared with that at another? Hopefully, if you follow this abbreviated guide you will soon be on course to make some serious dosh from the sand!

It may boast a catch-all monicker, but all-weather racing actually differs slightly at each of the four venues which currently stage the sport in the UK. This is a factor well worth being aware of before you decide to have a bet at a particular track. With the exception of Kempton, the courses are left-handed. Racing at Wolverhampton and Southwell takes place around lozenge-shaped tracks, while Lingfield’s configuration is more triangular. I will expand upon the significance of this a bit further on.

One fundamental point you need to get to grips with early on is how the actual racing surface differs from one course to another. Two types of sand are currently used. All-weather races held at both Wolverhampton and Lingfield are now run on a material called Polytrack, which is a kind of rubberised sand which minimises the impact of ‘kickback’ – the effect the horses produce as they thunder over a loose-topped sandy surface. Polytrack’s consistent nature means that most races can be run at a good pace, so when having a bet at Lingfield or Wolverhampton it’s worth remembering the importance of backing a horse which will see out the trip.

With that in mind, it would be less of a concern for a horse with good form over 12 furlongs at these two courses to get stepped down to race, say, over 10 furlongs. But it may be more of a problem for a horse which has been doing well over, say, 6 furlongs if its next challenge was to run over a mile or further.

Horses for courses

However, a different racing material known as Fibresand is employed at Southwell. Generally speaking, this produces a more demanding surface compared with Polytrack. If all-weather racing at Wolverhampton and Lingfield is similar to running on the equivalent of fast going on turf, then Southwell’s Fibresand is closer to a turf equivalent of racing on soft or even heavy ground.

Take note of this factor when a horse which has performed well at Wolverhampton or Lingfield is then asked to contest a race at Southwell – even if the distance is the same. Before having a bet in this instance, you should be happy the horse will see out the trip on this different surface.

Lingfield’s sharp contours and relatively short finishing straight mean it tends to favour horses who can race up with the pace (or ‘handily’) rather than long-striding gallopers who need time to wind up their run. The layout of the track means that horses drawn in double figures tend to be at a disadvantage for races run up to a mile. Low-drawn horses who can race handily should enjoy a definite advantage when it comes to sprint races over the minimum trip of 5 furlongs.

It’s a similar story at Wolverhampton. Once again, horses drawn low in 5 and 6-furlong races usually have an advantage. It’s difficult for horses to swing wide into the straight without compromising their chances. But for race distances over a mile or more the impact of the draw diminishes rapidly.

We’ve already heard that the racing surface at Southwell is different to the other tracks and this means the kickback is far more pronounced here than elsewhere. The next time you go to the beach, get someone to throw handfuls of sand in your face and see how much you like it! For that reason, Southwell tends to benefit horses who can race ‘prominently’ or who are described as ‘strong travellers’ because they will avoid as much kickback as possible.

Sticking to these guidelines for all-weather betting should help you take a little more cash from the bookies’ satchels than the average punter. Happy punting!

Like any other sports, the horse races are also carried out on big tracks. Many professional jockeys take part in it with their specially trained horses. But one important thing attached to the horse race is the betting on it. The Horse race Betting has become quite popular everywhere and this game having the nickname as sports of king is now associated immensely with the gambling or betting acts.

Even if the horse race betting is the wagering activity and you can not decide about the results, you can make the anticipations while choosing the horse for betting. You must consider some factors related to the horse. For choosing the horse, one has to think about the following factors related to horse.

> How fast the horse can run?

> What is the condition of fitness of the Horse?

> Which conditions are more advantageous for the particular horse?

For gathering the information about the above points, you can inspect the previous horse racing records of him. You can prepare the analysis and on that basis, you can decide whether the particular horse is good for betting at the time of race or not.

One another way to confirm your decision about the horse race betting, you can consult the tipsters. But it is not always helpful. The anticipations and conclusions noted down by them are not always reliable. The inspectional information from the horse trainer, exercise riders, horse owners etc can be quite helpful to decide betting. Such insiders also make stakes depending on their expert knowledge. Thus it is always a smart way to gather such hot tips from them before going for horse race betting.

Actual check of horses can more beneficial than only believing the minds of others. If you feel than the horse in not just suitable for the particular type of horse race in which you are betting then you can go on checking for the another horse. Even if the previous performance of the horse was good, it is not necessary that the prevailing climatic and other conditions may allow him to win the race equally. Thus it is one time decision for any horse race betting and not applicable for all the time.

For some, the horse race betting is the easy and playful act. But it is not that much easy to win bets and make the profits. After all, it is just the future anticipation and the risk involved in horse race betting has to be accepted by the bettor.

Help answer the question about horse racing
The decomposition of culture, declination of morale, addictive to drugs, horse racing, stocks, why not pension
Hong Kong citizens are appeared as sort of decomposition of culture, declined moral standards, don't give a damn to each other, extremely sharp about gambling in horse racing and stock markets, greed and unconcerned. Why don't they think about their future safety net of Hong Kong pension, say at least five thousand HK per month. They are dick heads and continue to seek the winning of a lottory ticket, a triple triactor, a surge on stock markets. It is not practical! Only pension can provide them a sahety net for the rest of their life. Should Hong Kong citizens deserve a pension fund?

While many people are familiar with thoroughbred racing, there is another form of horse racing that has been enjoyed for many years and is still favored at many racing tracks. It is harness horse racing and if you are new to this type of horse racing, you will find that it can be just as fun and exciting as thoroughbred horse racing. In fact, many people believe that following harness horse racing is actually a good introduction to thoroughbred horse racing. This is because, once you become accustomed to harness horse racing you will develop a good understanding of pace, which will benefit you quite well when you begin following harness horse racing.

When handicapping harness horse racing, it is important to understand that races are commonly viewed in quarters. In order to get a good idea of the pace that each horse is capable of achieving, you will need to time each quarter of the race. When you view the race broken down into quarters you will gain a better understanding of the ability of each horse as well as the amount of energy they have throughout the race.

By following the pace of the horse during each quarter you will have a much better ability to determine how the horse will perform in subsequent races. This can also come in quite handy when you begin to view thoroughbred races. There is a common misconception that horses have a tendency to run faster once they reach the last part of the race. While it can certainly appear that way, this is usually not what actually happens. It is actually fairly common for most horse to have a faster speed in the beginning of the race. The only way you will really know this is to determine the pace of the horse in each part of the race and handicapping harness racing helps you to do precisely that.

The best way to handicap a horse in harness racing is to time how the horse fares in each precise quarter. Once you have that information you will then be able to estimate the rate which the horse will run during subsequent quarters. You may very well find that you are surprised at the results. By using this system, it is not at all unusual to find that horse you would never have dreamed would fare well actually places in the top three.

If you have been handicapping horse races and trying to win money then you probably know how difficult it can be. But did you ever consider the fact that all horse races are not created equally? There are horse races that are easier to handicap and also are very profitable.

Wise bettors keep track of their progress and wagers so they can tell what they are good at and where their strengths are so that they can focus their efforts and maximize their time to best advantage. Some people specialize in maidens while others prefer to handicap turf races.

The first thing I advise you to do is to keep records of what you wager on and how well you do. Keep notes and refer to them. Set aside a little time each week or month to go over your bets and see where your handicapping strengths are.

I have found that mid level claimers are the best races for me. I prefer the ones run on a dirt track or all weather track, too. The reasons I have found these races particularly profitable is that I can get good odds on horses that are improving and it is also easier to compare the horses.

Claiming races are WYSIWYG races, meaning, “what you see is what you get.” Very few good trainers put a horse that can compete in a $25,000 claiming race for a purse of $25,000 in a race for a lower purse. It just doesn’t make economic sense. They put their horse where it can be competitive and earn the most money. Training horses, after all, is a business and that makes good business sense.

So when I handicap a mid level claiming race and compare the horses it is relatively easy to see which horse is capable of competing at that level and which horses are moving up or dropping down in class.

Another benefit of handicapping those races is that I can see a good trainer claim a horse and follow the moves that he or she is making to improve the horse and win. Equipment changes help but there are other things they do, such as changes in diet and exercise that will improve a horse. Some trainers like to claim a horse and drop it in class if they are reasonably certain that their horse can win the race. The runner might be claimed from the race for a lower price than they paid for it, but the claiming check they receive, plus the purse money and any bets they win offset the loss in claiming price.

All of these moves and the horses ability are more transparent in claiming races. Most claimers have been running for a while and have shown what they can do, hence the term WYSIWYG. When I see a horse that has demonstrated the ability to win at the $10,000 level for a fair trainer that has been claimed and is now in the barn of a much better trainer, I know the horse will probably improve and win at a higher level. These bets often are not appreciated by the public and good odds can be found on them.

The reason I stick with mid level claimers is that experience has shown the runners in the cheaper races are just too inconsistent and sometimes have major problems. Once in a while they manage a god performance but their record is so spotty it is impossible to tell when that might be.

Try sticking to mid level claiming races for a few programs and see how you do. Use a reasonable system and have realistic expectations and you may be pleasantly surprised by your own performance as a handicapper.

The most consistent horse racing systems have to have the basics and a handicapper must understand the basics. I have been around horse racing for 50 years including as an owner. Without the basics the rest is not going to do any good. If you want to learn how a horse owner and insider handicaps just go to http://williewins.homestead.com/truecb.html and get the truth.
