Snake River Canyon, the older brother of Big Brown, finished 4th in a $40,000 claimer on the turf today at Churchill. It was the 14th race of a career, marked by just one win. His one win was during the one race that he was owned by Paul Pompa Jr, who liked him so much that he was inspired to buy his little Brother, Big Brown, for $190,000 at the Keeneland 2-year-old auction.

In an article at Blood-Horse.com, indications are that Three Chimneys only purchased a "minority interest" in Big Brown and that the racing career of the horse is under the control of IEAH and Paul Pompa Jr.

....Clay would not release any financial details, but said he and a group of 10-12 partners purchased a "minority interest" in Big Brown. Big Brown will stand at Three Chimneys in a deal for $60 million

After a few days of speculation, it was announced on the NBC telecast of the Preakness that Big Brown will in fact stand at Three Chimneys in Midway, Kentucky. The deal was signed on Saturday at noon. IEAH will retain a share. Details were not released regarding what share was purchased or what his stud fee may be. The deal is reportedly for $60 million.

Win or lose June 7 in the Belmont Stakes, what are the chances that undefeated Triple Crown contender Big Brown will run again? "Very good," his co-owner, Holbrook resident Michael Iavarone, said yesterday. "As long as he comes out of the race in the right way and shows us that he wants to go on, I think it would make sense for us to go on with him." Iavarone has said Big Brown will not race as a 4-year-old next year, when he will begin his stud career. On Saturday, Iavarone sold Big Brown's breeding rights for what one source told Newsday yesterday was more than a record $60 million......more

Big Brown was purchased by Hidden Brook, as agent for co-owner Paul Pompa Jr., for $190,000 at Keeneland’s 2007 April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The Boundary colt was consigned by Eddie Woods, agent.

Big Brown (Hip No. 589) was among more than 1000 yearlings on catalog at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky between October 23 and 25th, 2006.
